The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) FH-97A is an unmanned fighter jet intended as a loyal wingman in support of heavier fighter jets such as the J-20. The twin-engine aircraft features a stealth design similar to the F-35’s one and the cockpit is replaced by some sort of electro-optical sensor suite. It is fitted with reconnaissance and jamming payloads as well as weaponry using the internal weapons bay and external stations. The FH-97A can be equipped with air-to-air missiles and guided bombs. The aircraft was developed by the Feihong Company part of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The FH-97A was unveiled at the China Airshow in November 2022 in Zuhai.
